An elementary school teacher in New York has been arrested on child sex charges involving one of her former students.
The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office says 48-year-old Elizabeth Barthelmas, of Wilton, was arrested Wednesday on three felony sex counts, including rape for a sexual relationship with a child younger than 13.
Police tell the Glens Falls Post-Star the alleged sexual relationship occurred in her home in 2007 and 2008 when the child was no longer a student in her class. Police say the victim recently disclosed the alleged abuse.
The Saratoga Springs School District says Barthelmas has been suspended with pay.
It wasn't clear if Barthelmas had a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
