16 Hurt in Queens Apartment Blaze: FDNY

More than a dozen people were hurt in a fire at an apartment building in Queens Friday afternoon, according to the FDNY.

The blaze started on the fifth floor of a six-story building on 170th Street in Jamaica at about 4:30 p.m., fire officials say. The blaze was brought under control in about 20 minutes.

Firefighters say 16 people had injuries, most of which were minor and from smoke inhalation.
It’s not clear what caused the blaze.

Police and fire officials are investigating.
