Fire Destroys Family's Home in New Jersey

A fire that started Saturday in an abandoned building in New Jersey destroyed a family's home next door, authorities said.

Firefighters from five communities fought the 5:30 p.m. fire in Elizabeth.

The fire ignited in an abandoned building on Fulton Street and quickly spread to an adjacent house where a couple lived with their two young children.

The Red Cross was helping the family that lost their home.
