FDR Drive Crash Causing Severe Traffic Backup

A three-car crash on the FDR Drive near the Manhattan Bridge causes severe traffic during the evening rush Wednesday, with delays up to the 50s.

An accident on the FDR Drive is causing a severe backup during the evening rush. 

Three SUVs appeared to be involved in the crash southbound near the Manhattan Bridge. FDNY, EMS and NYPD are on the scene.

Nine people were injured, none seriously. Five were taken to local hospitals.

At one point, all lanes were closed for 30 minutes. One lane has reopened. 

Heavy bumper-to-bumper traffic both southbound and northbound should be expected through the evening.
