Extended Term Limits – Fair or Not?

The Resident asks New Yorkers and Council Member Simcha Felder whether or not extending term limits is a good idea, from an ideological standpoint and a practical one. New York City Council Members voted in favor of Mayor Bloomberg’s proposal to extend term limits for city officials to three terms. This not only allows the mayor to run for a third term, but the council members themselves can also run again. This vote also goes against two public referendums, one in 1993 and one in 1996, where New York City residents voted against extending term limits. The Resident asks people if this is fair, does the new economic crisis warrant this override, and other related questions. See more from The Resident at http://www.theresident.net
