Prison for Brooklyn Handyman Who Fatally Torched Woman

Jerome Isaac was sentenced to 50 years to life in the torching death of Deloris Gillespie

The man accused of attacking a 73-year-old woman with a Molotov cocktail and setting her on fire inside an elevator is facing charges of murder. John Noel reports.

A handyman who admitted burning a 73-year-old woman to death in a Brooklyn elevator will spent 50 years to life in prison.

District Attorney Charles J. Hynes announced the sentence Friday for Jerome Isaac.

Isaac pleaded guilty to murder. His sentencing was postponed from November while his mental fitness was gauged. He told probation officials he got orders from the devil.

Prosecutors said Isaac attacked Deloris Gillespie because he believed she owed him money. They say he doused her with gasoline, set her on fire and then threw a firebomb inside the elevator.
