E Train Subway Entrance to Open in World Trade Center's Oculus Hub

The station had been out of service since 2001 due to long-term construction after 9/11

Some commuters who take the E train will have a new way to get to work. The new E train access at the World Trade Center Oculus hub opens Monday, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said.

Nearly two decades after it was closed, the new E train subway entrance will open Monday in the World Trade Center's Oculus transportation hub, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced.

The station had been out of service since 2001 due to long-term construction at the World Trade Center after 9/11.

The new entrance will be on the second floor of the Oculus, and will retain the flooring, ramp structure, and directional signage that was part of the original entryway.

PATH commuters will have direct access to E trains without needing to go to the street level. Although it's not handicap-accessible, the Port Authority plans to build an ADA-accessible entrance in the future.

Commuters can check the MTA website for ADA access to the E train.
