Boy, 3, Bitten in Face by Family Dog Inside New Jersey Home

A young boy suffered a serious bite wound to the face after he was attacked by the family dog inside his home in Toms River Monday night.

The boy was playing with the animal in the kitchen of his Fourth Avenue home around 8:15 p.m. when he was attacked.

Initial first aid was rendered at the scene, and the child was then taken by medical helicopter to Cooper University Medical Center for additional treatment.

Police say both parents were home at the time of the attack.

The dog was taken into custody by the Toms River Animal Control for evaluation and observation. The animal was later euthanized at the owner's request, authorities said.
