3-Year-Old Girl Found Wandering Harlem Street in Middle of Night

Police say the child walked out her front door while her baby sitter fell asleep

A 3-year-old girl was taken to the hospital as a precaution after she was found on the streets of Harlem in the middle of the night.

A 3-year-old girl was found wandering the streets of Harlem in the middle of the night after she walked out her front door while her baby sitter fell asleep, police say.

Police responded to West 44th Street around 3:15 a.m. after getting a call about the wandering toddler; they found the girl outside her building. 

The child wasn't hurt. Police say she walked out the door of her apartment when her 26-year-old baby sitter fell asleep. Her mother was at work at the time. 

The toddler was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Her mother was reunited with her there. 

The Administration for Children's Services was notified, but police say no charges are expected to be filed.
