A Long Island driver hit the gas instead of the brake before careening into another car and thundering into a pizzeria, police said.
Three people were hospitalized after the 66-year-old woman accidentally stepped on the gas at Herzel Boulevard, sparking the chaotic chain of events in West Babylon, Suffolk County police said.
The woman's Mercury Grand Marquis struck a car at the intersection of Little East Neck Road and then plowed into Giovanni's Pizza, according to police.
"Somebody was shouting, 'There's a car in the pizza place!'" Bob Timmers said. "I came running out and there was a Lincoln fully in that pizza place."
The woman's car drove over the foot of an employee at the pizza shop, police said. The employee and two customers were taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Neither the woman nor the other driver were injured.
