Bomb Scare Briefly Closes NYC Bus Terminal

A portion of the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan was evacuated for about 45 minutes Saturday following a report of a suspicious package, police said.

The package was cleared around 3:30 p.m. and the closed southern portion of the terminal was reopened, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police spokesman Joe Pentangelo said.

It was closed after a police dog alerted officers to a package wrapped in brown paper in front of a bar at the bus terminal.

The PABT serves as the main gateway for buses into New York City. It's the largest terminal in the United States.
