Batman Movie Closes Part of Queensboro Bridge Sunday

The upper level is shut down from 1 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday

Drivers who plan on taking the Queensboro Bridge Sunday should be prepared for traffic delays, thanks to filming of the latest "Batman" film.

The movie has been shooting in and around New York City in the past few weeks, and the bridge is the latest filming site.

The upper level of the bridge is shut down in both directions from 1 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.

Some drivers were frustrated Saturday night, and said they were unaware of the closures.

There was also some concern among citizens who live in the high-rises overlooking the bridge.

"People honestly believe it was a real person in a Batman costume suspended on the bridge, and we had to try to assure the public -- no, it was the movie shoot," said a woman who answered phones at the 108th Precinct. "And it had been advertised on the radio, on the news."

"It was just outrageous," she said, laughing about the calls.

The movie is the third installment in the Christopher Nolan-directed "Batman" film series, starring Christian Bale in the title role.

Movie shoots like "Batman" in New York City bring $5 billion to the city every year.
