A woman was punched and raped in a secluded area of the Bronx in broad daylight, police say.

The NYPD says a balding man and the woman began talking near Dekalb Avenue and East 208th Street in Norwood around 4 p.m. Tuesday. They didn't know each other previously and appeared to hit it off, cops say.

The man led the 37-year-old woman to an isolated spot about a block away from Montefiore Medical Center, where police say things took a violent turn. They say the man punched the woman in the face and then raped her.

Police say this is the man they want to identify in connection with the sex attack.

After the attack, the unidentified man ran off. The woman went to an area hospital to be treated for a nose injury, according to authorities.

Newly released surveillance footage (above) shows the man with headphones around his neck standing on the sidewalk.

Police say the man appears to be about 28 years old and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and carrying a black bookbag. Investigators ask anyone with information on the attack to call Crime Stoppers.
