Teenage Baby Sitters Go for Joyride in Client's Mustang, Crash: Police

Two teenage baby sitters took their client's Ford Mustang on a joyride and crashed it, authorities say.

Mount Olive police say the 17-year-old Budd Lake boys face numerous charges, including auto theft. One of them also was charged with child neglect, which was shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities say the pair sneaked out of the home and took the car for a spin, but soon crashed it into a tree.

The boys fled on foot, but a police officer who responded to the accident recalled seeing the vehicle parked outside a nearby home. He went to the residence and eventually learned that the boys were supposed to be baby-sitting when they decided to take the car out.

Both teens suffered minor injuries in the crash.
