Feds Bust $200M NJ Car Theft Ring That Shipped Overseas

Authorities say the case disrupted a smuggling operation at New Jersey's seaports

Federal prosecutors say they busted a car theft operation in New Jersey that was shipping stolen vehicles mostly to buyers in western Africa.      

Authorities say the case disrupted a $200 million smuggling operation at New Jersey's seaports.      

Complaints have been issued against 24 people and arrests are ongoing in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Kansas.      

First Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Gilmore Childers will announce details during an afternoon news conference in Newark, N.J.
