Arrest Made in Home Invasion, Slashing of Woman, 86

Police say they arrested the man who broke into an 86-year-old woman's Queens home, slashed her as she fought back and stole her car.

The woman, Vivian Squires, tells the Daily News in Friday editions that she's glad that police finally made an arrest. She says the person who attacked her needs help.

Police say the 33-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of attempted murder, robbery, assault, burglary and grand larceny. He was arrested after a three-month manhunt.

Police say the man crawled through a window at her Springfield Gardens home on Jan. 4. They say he attacked her, leaving gashes on her neck and torso. The man fled in her car.
