Gunfire in Brooklyn rattled residents in two neighborhoods and left five men wounded. The first incident happened around 1:35 Saturday morning in Beford-Stuyvesant, 90 minutes later another shooting occurred in Crown Heights and then 10 minutes later more shots rang out on another Bed-Stuy street. Five men and a teenager were wounded in four separate shootings in Brooklyn on Saturday, authorities said.
In Bedford-Stuyvesant, three people were shot on Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Monroe Place at around 1:30 a.m. Police said a 36-year-old was shot in one leg and grazed in the other, a 23-year-old was hit in his right calf and a 20-year-old was wounded in the hand and upper thigh.
The three men were rushed to Kings County Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
In Crown Heights, police said one man was shot twice in his buttocks and thigh on St. John’s Place and Franklin Avenue just after 3 a.m. He was also taken to Kings County Hospital.
Shots rang out again about 10 minutes later in Bedford-Stuyvesant, where a 51-year-old man was wounded in the right leg on Stockton Street near Lewis Avenue.
He was listed in stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital.
That third shooting happened near a community farm where children regularly play.
"I heard a lot of gunshots out here last night," said neighborhood resident Orlando Williams. "Thank god the kids weren't out here."
The fourth shooting occurred at 5:30 p.m. in a Bushwick playground on Flushing Avenue and Beaver Street, where a 14-year-old was shot in the leg.
Witnesses at the scene said he was an innocent bystander who was shot while playing with his nephews, but police said the teen had been in an argument with the gunman before the shooting.
No arrests have been made in any of the shootings.
