A large fuel spill and disabled vehicles on the outbound upper level of the George Washington Bridge caused major delays Tuesday morning, with three lanes blocked at one point as authorities dealt with the mess.
Delays stretched all the way back to the Bronx River Parkway at one point. Traffic cameras showed sirens blaring on the upper level and heavy rubbernecking delays on the inbound side of the bridge.
The lanes appeared to be reopened by about 7:45 a.m., but lingering delays were expected. MTA and NJ Transit buses were reported related delays.
No injuries were reported.
