What You're Doing Tonight, 6/5

Librarians let their buns down, opera is $5 (if you're unemployed), and The Shining screens at midnight.

SEEING DOUBLE: Can you think of a better movie to watch at midnight than The Shining? We sure can't. Stephen King apparently never got behind this Stanley Kubrick adaptation of his novel, and to that, we say: Suck it, Stephen King. This movie is six kinds of genius. And essential to see on a big screen, if you've never had the pleasure. IFC, 12AM.

GETTING BOOKISH: Do you have a thing for librarians? Or is your wardrobe -- by utter coincidence -- made up of pencil skirts and cardigans? The Desk Set's Dance Dance Library Revolution is the party where you can let your bun down, and proceeds go to benefit the worthy Books Through Bars. Enid's (Greenpoint), 10:30PM.

HEARING SONGS FOR A SONG: Now that you're unemployed, you have plenty of time to catch up on your cultural literacy, right? Luckily, the Brooklyn Repertory Opera will hook you up with $5 tickets to its latest blowout, Verdi's "Masked Ball," if you show an unemployment insurance stub at the Brooklyn Lyceum box office. (Also valid on 6/7 and 12). 7:30PM.
