Best Auction of the Year Postponed til 2009

Noooooo! Phillips de Pury's hip-hop jewelry sale, originally scheduled for October 12, has been pushed back to March of 2009. Did the auction house need the extra time to polish every gem in Lil John's "Crunk Ain't Dead" necklace? Did the recent market crash clean out anyone who might have been interested? Nope; as it turns out, the auction was suffering from too much interest. In a press release yesterday, Phillipe de Pury put it like this: "We have determined that there is more significant property to be consigned and that to enlarge the sale we will increase the offering which is in great demand." Whew. Knowing that there's an even sparklier haul at the end of this tunnel, we'll somehow manage to wait it out till March.
