Park Slope Food Co-op Helps You Park Your Bike

Five months ago, the Park Slope Food Co-op banned plastic bags. Previous to that, they stopped selling plastic bottled water. Now, they're encouraging people to cycle to the store, rather than driving, with a bike valet service. "'We feel there are a lot of people who would ride their bikes here but don’t because of theft and the difficulty of finding a spot to park your bike,' said longtime co-op member Ken Coughlin to the Brooklyn Eagle. At the trial run on Saturday, the tent used for parking was filled to capacity at least once by 3:30pm. They can't force you to ditch your SUV, but they can can strongly, strongly discourage you from driving it.
