Local Girl Raises $300,000 For Cancer

“You can put your mind to anything,” says 13-year-old Alison Wasserman, who collected $303,250 in contributions for brain-cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. The inspiring teen donated the cash as a “mitzvah” or good deed for her bat mitzvah because her father was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor two years ago.
