Clean & Orderly Second Ave. Subway Already Exists on Paper

We've always had a thing for Community Board 8's Second Avenue Subway Task Force, and now those sexy little devils have finally put out, making available an MTA presentation with all sorts of renderings of the first phase of the new subway line, scheduled for completion in 2015. Second Avenue Sagas has the PDF and analysis, and they write, "It's hard not to get excited about this. These images show that the MTA is pretty far along in the planning and design stages of Phase I of this project. Might we actually have a Second Ave. Subway in the next eight to ten years?" Above, a look at the open-plaza canopy design that the MTA is tinkering with; plunging deep into the bowels of the city just got stylish! Check out the gallery for more renderings and details, but do click through to SAS for the complete rundown.
