2 NYPD Officers Gunned Down in “Assassination”

It was an “assassination,” officials said. The two targets were given no time to defend themselves, and may not even have realized a gunman was approaching. NYPD officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were sitting in their squad car in Brooklyn Saturday at 2:47 p.m., when 28-year-old Ismaaiyl Brinsley approached, took a shooter’s stance, and fired several shots through the passenger-side front window, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said.
