Storm Team 4 is predicting a possible week-long stretch of unsettled weather, with rain and storms expected Saturday and every day after that until the following Saturday, which is the next time the 10-day forecast shows a sun.
The tri-state may get 1 to 3 inches of rain over the damp stretch, which may feature 30 to 40 mph winds, strong thunderstorms and localized flooding.
The high pressure that has been protecting the area for the last several days moves out to sea Saturday morning, setting the stage for rapidly deteriorating conditions Saturday night and through next week, Storm Team 4 says.
The weekend will start off dry, then clouds are expected to thicken Saturday afternoon. Showers will move in from the south, and the rain will intensify as the core of the system glides up along the coast, Storm Team 4 says. A large swath of the tri-state area may see periods of heavy rain and some possible wind-driven thunderstorms overnight Saturday into Sunday.
Showers will ease up Sunday morning, but it will turn muggy and gray, with afternoon rain or storms likely to close out the weekend. And at this point, it's not looking much better for the workweek.
