Rain Dampens Friday Morning Commute as Temps Soar Into 50s

What to Know

  • Temps soared into the 50s Friday, but it will be damp and wet most of the day
  • Storm Team 4 says up to an inch and a half of rain is possible by the time the system moves out later Friday night
  • Temps are set to plunge back near the freezing mark on Sunday

Another wet system triggered flood watches for virtually all of New Jersey Friday and dampened the morning commute for many as temperatures soared into the 50s.

Showers should taper off in the evening; by that time, the tri-state area could see anywhere from a half inch to 1.5 inches of water.

It was warm, though, a nice respite from the chilly Christmas week. Temps soared into the mid-50s by early afternoon; they'll drop into the low 50s Saturday.

Then the chill returns. The mercury is set to plunge near the freezing mark on Sunday, Storm Team 4 says.
