If it seemed like Old Man Winter made a rather sudden and blunt entrance, you're right.
The region experienced record-breaking cold two days in a row, following an unseasonably mild fall.
Central Park recorded a low of 24 degrees on Saturday morning and 25 degrees on Friday evening. That broke records set in 1933 and 1924, respectively.
In fact, the National Weather Service said record lows were also set early Saturday at LaGuardia, JFK and Newark airports, and at Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Temperatures rose only to the 30s on Saturday, making for a chilly Veterans Day Parade.
But the arctic blast won't last long. Temperatures climb by about 10 degrees, up to a high of about 50 on Sunday. They're back in the upper 40s on Monday and Tuesday before rising into the 50s for the rest of the week.
