The Fouth of July forecast for the tri-state area calls for heat, humidity and possible thunderstorms that could put a brief damper on firework displays.
The Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular will go on, rain or shine, organizers said. But it may be delayed if there is lightning -- if that's the case, the show will be delayed until the lightning passes.

There may be lingering storms Wednesday morning, especially east of town, and then as a cold front approaches, another round of thunderstorms may pop up in the afternoon and early evening. Storms should move through quickly, but they may produce hail, damaging winds and frequent lightning.
This second round of storms may put a brief damper on area fireworks displays or cause problems for people who are lined up to get a good viewing spot for the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular, which will be broadcast on NBC 4 New York at 9 p.m.
Independence Day will also mark the start of the third heat wave of the summer, with oppressive heat and humidity settling in early. Temperatures will top out in the mid-90s, but it will feel like nearly 100 degrees at times.
That dangerous combination has prompted the National Weather Service to place the city under a heat advisory for Wednesday, urging residents to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight, and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
