Pop-Up Shops: The Metal Shop Brings the Future to Tribeca

Tomorrow marks the opening of the Metal Shop in Tribeca, but despite the name, it's not a collaboration between the Japanese designer, AC/DC, and Wal-Mart, as awesome as that would be. (Wait. Actually, that would not be awesome at all. Would it?) The Metal Shop is actually a pop-up selling metallic clothing and accessories by designers from Michael Kors to Puma to Love Brigade. It's located inside Issey Miyake's Tribeca flagship, which, given the titanium Frank Gehry sculpture that winds its way around the store, is already pretty metallic. Why the sudden interest in robot gear? Well, it's a tie-in to the Metal Ball, which is a fundraiser for the arts organizations Performa. But even if you don't have a Metal Ball ticket, you can stop by 119 Hudson Street at North Moore to stock up on all sorts of highly designed shiny objects. The shop will be open 11am to 7pm (12 to 6 on Sundays) until November 15th.
