Williamsburg, consider the foundations of your world officially shaken. Paul Smith has opened on Grand Street, and nothing will ever be the same. It's not that the store is so radical. In fact, it's pretty much exactly like every other Paul Smith in New York—bright colors, perky accessories, small collection of wacky non-clothing lifestyle artifacts—except that the prices are cut roughly in half. What's new is that Paul Smith at a discount is still pricier than pretty much any other store in Williamsburg (we found a motorcycle jacket for $1239), and certainly more Fifth Avenue. Smith's suits are lovely, but are there enough suit-wearers in the neighborhood to buy them?
