Dutch clothing brand G-Star must be more popular among New Yorkers than we thought: The company just opened its third store in the city on Thursday at 441 Broadway in Soho. The narrow, long space is filled with tables of dark, stiff premium denim for men and women (priced from around $160 to $200) and a generous array of black and army-green coats (around $300 apiece). All the dark, frill-free apparel looks like it should be worn by militants in some sort of futuristic, apocalyptic blockbuster—or by the European tourists who stroll down that stretch of pavement daily.
