We usually give any reports of sample sales the fisheye -- sure, 70 percent off seems theoretically interesting, but usually that means a pair of Lucite-heeled fuschia boots is marked all the way down to $450, which is not strictly speaking our idea of a bargain, or of a wardrobe staple (we're infinitely less fashionable than some of our colleagues).
Not so with the timelessly chic designs of Diane von Furstenberg, whose closet we want to curl up in and make a nest. The Woman Who Created the Wrap Dress is slashing prices on that very item -- and pretty much everything else from her womenswear line -- in a five-day Flatiron District sample sale bonanza, today through 12/13. There are prices in the double digits, people. This is such a major event, they're live-blogging it like it's the Oscars over at Racked.
DVF Sample Sale 12/9-12/13. 260 Fifth Ave. at 28th St., (212) 725-5400; call for hours.
