It really is the beginning of a new era here in the good ol' US of A, with a new president being sworn in today and lots of buzz about "hope" and warm feelings in everyone's tummies. So we thought we'd remind all you fashion fans of another warm-and-fuzzy event on the not-so-distant horizon: Alexander Wang's impending diffusion line, T by Alexander Wang.
No doubt inspired by his comfy, perfectly drapey and sheer collection of tanks and tees, "T" looks almost like a loungewear line with its racerbank tanks and dresses. It's kind of genius: It's a recession, after all, and here Wang takes his all-time best-seller items (his stretched-neck tanks and tees) and creates an entire line out of it, for lots less. (NY Mag reports that the tank dress is $89 and the sleeveless tee is $74.) Granted: we're still talking about tank tops for more than $50, but they, take what you can get, right? I think we're all sick of braving the lines at his samples sales.
The collection will be stocked by the usual suspects—Barneys, Kirna Zabete, and Opening Ceremony—and you can bet it'll sell out within weeks, so when the pieces hit the racks at the end of this month, get there but quick. We'll give you a little teaser: Saks Fifth Avenue already has a few pieces available for pre-order. Genius!
