Chocolate Financiers by the Boxful

Plus cut-rate Orla Kiely bags at Showroom Seven, and the new, moody Vivian Girls disc

SINFUL: All of our get-fit-eat-well resolve melts when we walk by Park Slope's Colson Patisserie, the New York outpost of the same-named bakery in Mons, Belgium. Happily and unfortunately for us, they'll pack 30 of their delectable chocolate financiers (almond flour + chocolate ganache + perfectly caramelized crust = tiny pillows from heaven) into one of their pretty tins and ship them at your request -- they make a perfect hostess gift, or a sinful snack to have on hand for your goûter. $40; 374 9th Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn; 718-965-6400.

MOTHERLODE: It hits today: The Showroom Seven sample sale of your dreams. Scoop up delights from the likes of Bloch London, Erickson Beamon, and Orla Kiely (whose patent shoulder bags, regularly almost $600, will be slashed to $325 here). September 8-22, 263 Eleventh Avenue, 3rd Floor.

GIRL TALK: Vivian Girls: Brilliant throwback outfit, or overhyped alt-rock mush? The debate rages on. One thing we're sure of, however, is this: Their new disc "Everything Goes Wrong" comes out today, and its dark vibe -- moodier than anything we've heard from the girls so far -- is a contender for perfect Soundtrack to Fall '09. Preview tracks here; get the disc at Sounds, 20 Saint Marks Place; 212-677-3444.
