As has been oft mentioned, the soon-to-open Cooper Square Hotel was built around and on top of an aging tenement inhabited by neighborhood fixture Hettie Jones and her neighbor of 30 years, Katy Abel. Even though the two oldtimers won't be enjoying the lush hotel life, they got a taste. When the hotel replaced their roof (the Cooper Square will use the tenement's bottom floors for lounge and office space), the two were relocated to the Bowery Hotel and the Hotel on Rivington for 10 days.
