We had some fun last week with the new bus stop sign at Bowery and Prince that refers to everyone's favorite formerly down-and-out thoroughfare as a Street, and today the Post does the same, even getting an apology out of the company that made the sign and an assurance that a new sign is en route. And about the cover-up someone applied, a passerby told the paper, "That's a nice piece of civil disobedience - old school. The Bowery is the Bowery." Replace the masking tape with smeared-on black tar heroin, and it would really be old school. [NYP; previously]
