Preservation groups rallied today outside the historic Provincetown Playhouse building on MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village, still pissed that NYU will preserve just a bit of the façade and the four walls of the original theater while demolishing most of the building around it then constructed a new academic facility. That plan is a compromise from NYU's original proposal, which was just tearing down the whole thing. As of now the windows have been boarded up, and scaffolding has been erected around the building.
