Planting the Flag at 456 West 19th Street

Earlier this week an agile fellow attached a billowing American flag up top a big steel girder rising over developer Cary Tamarkin's curvy new condo at 456 W 19. We're not sure if this was to honor those who have served or to commemorate the marketing of this 22-unit fusion of round and square from GKV Architects. Whatever the reason for flying Old Glory, this fellow displayed nerves of steel while shimmying up above Tenth Avenue, where he could take in the same Hudson River views that future terrace-owning residents will enjoy when this building is completed sometime in early 2010. But the folks in charge here are wasting no time: open house this weekend.
