On the Market: Village Townhouse Has That Condo Feeling

The 6,250-square-foot (yowza!) brownstone at 24 West 11th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, could be described as the bionic townhouse or the townhouse on steroids. Purchased last year for just under $7 million by developer Aberdeen Townhomes, the property has bypassed restoration in favor of renovation—super-renovation, that is. New features include a glass wall overlooking a patio, elevator, 1,000-bottle wine cellar and virtual doorman. Other non-townhousey features include a concierge service and on-call super who will shovel snow and tend to the property. It's an interesting experiment—taking a historic product and slapping on all the modern bells and whistles—and it's an expensive one, too. The house is listed at $17.5 million through Elliman's Luxury Loft team of Leonard Steinberg and Herve Senequier. Marketing for the property kicked off this week, and the same treatment is planned for townhouses at 33 Charlton Street and 41 West 74th Street.
