The old Wheatsworth Bakery, a 1928-vintage factory on the LES famous for being the home of Milk-Bone dog treats, and five other buildings were landmarked today. Other side include a former bank branch on the Lower East Side, a Harlem firehouse and recreation centers in Brownsville, Brooklyn and Tompkinsville on Staten Island. The seven-story factory is at 444 East 10th Street, between Avenues C and D. It was built in the Art Deco and Viennese Secessionist styles for Wheatsworth, the cracker and flour manufacturer that invented the Milk-Bone dog biscuit. [CityRoom]
