WEST VILLAGE—Community Board 2 and other locals have been campaigning to turn the state-owned seven-story building at 75 Morton Street (right) into a middle school. Even the city is on board with the idea. Word just came down from CB2 that the Empire State Development Corporation has withdrawn its proposal to sell the building, due to "current market conditions." There has been no decision on the school topic, but hey, at least a private developer isn't going to get his hands on the thing. [CurbedWire Inbox]
