Though work continues on its restaurant, screening room and controversial outdoor spaces, the Cooper Square Hotel will finally open its doors this month and welcome the Bowery's huddled masses into around 90 of its 145 guest rooms—as long as those huddled masses can pony up the $275/night introductory rate. We've already had a look inside one of those rooms, and now World Architecture News has some new photos of the hotel's lobby (photo after the jump) as well as the lounge/library (above) just off that lobby. There's also this explanation of architect Carlos Zapata's 21-story design: "Zapata says the inspiration for the building was literally a face starting small at the neck and widening upwards, with the intention of giving the building a very distinctive personality." The Coop certainly has personality, but can it mesh with those not-so-friendly neighbors? We'll soon find out.
