Carroll Gardens & Gowanus Development Shows Continue

If it's fall it means that some long-running Carroll Gardens and Gowanus development fights are offering up new episodes. Well, sort of new, anyway.

1) 360 Smith Street. The most controversial of the Carroll Gardens buildings, the former Heavy Metal Building that was stopped by a zoning text amendment that could shave 15 feet from the building. Yesterday, the developer went to the obscure, yet powerful, Board of Standards and Appeals, which decided not to decide. At issue: the Department of Buildings says the foundation is 20 percent complete. That means the building can only be 55 feet tall rather than 70 feet. The developers says the foundation is more like 80 percent done. The next episode will air on October 28 when there's another hearing.

2) Toll Brothers. The huge Toll Brothers Gowanus Development Show will have its own airing tonight at a Community Board Meeting. The developers are looking for special zoning approval ahead of the bigger Gowanus rezoning for their 447 unit Canal-side development. For more stories from Curbed, go to curbed.com.
