Late last year, the city announced it would spare at least one of the houses on Duffield St. in Downtown Brooklyn that may have been part of the Underground Railroad but that were slated to be demolished for an underground parking lot and park. Now, the city has announced a $2M "In Pursuit of Freedom" project to commemorate abolitionist efforts in Brooklyn. There will be an "artistic installation," a self-guided walking tour, a theatrical performance, "interpretative exhibits," and a Web site and all are outlined in an unbelievably long press release.
