A lot of people know about the 1964 World's Fair Unisphere and the majestically rotting Phillip Johnson NY State Pavilion in Flushing Meadows Park and, even, the 1939 World's Fair vintage Queens Museum building. Apparently, there's another 1939 survivor (another one was demolished a while back): a boathouse on Meadow Lake. Now, the city is going to spend $6.5 million to restore it, which is actually more than it gave Kaufman-Astoria Studios to expand. Now, if they can only make Meadow Lake (literally) stop smelling like crap, the world will be a better place. [NYDN]
