Tonight: Brooklyn Beer and Cheesestravaganza

Beer Table hosts a night of suds and curds, perfectly paired.

The "wine and cheese tasting" concept is fairly well established these days. You eat some cheese, you drink the wine that's supposed to go with it, and then you teeter home high on dairy and sulfites. But what about beer and cheese? Beer is delicious, too. Why not devote an entire evening to adding "beer and cheese tasting" to the lexicon?

It's all in the name of haute gastronomy at Park Slope's award-winning Beer Table tonight, where you can cozy up to Mateo Kehler, from Jasper Hill Farm in Vermont (they're the ones who make the transcendent Constant Bliss cheese) as he serves up tastings of his artisanal cheeses. Even better, you'll get to sample Kehler's perfect pick of beer to go with each one -- Time Out called out a combo of raw-milk Winnemere and Brooklyn Local 1 (you may remember this as the beer that enraged a bunch of Belgian monks) and who are we to disagree?

Beer Table Cheese and Beer Tasting, 7-8:30pm, 427B Seventh Avenue at 14th Street, Park Slope 718-965-1196
