Summer Restaurant Week is on! Through July 31, out of the 250+ eateries participating, we bring you a crib sheet to our favorites.
DB Bistro Moderne
55 West 44th Street near Fifth Avenue; 212-391-2400; danielnyc.com
Why: The $35, three-course dinner package is pennies more than Daniel Boulud’s (in)famous DB burger ($32), a meaty smorgasbord of short ribs, foie gras and truffles. With pommes soufflées on the side.
What to order off the RW menu: Start with the Alsatian tarte flambée: sweet onions, salty bacon and sour fromage blanc. Follow with Boulud’s full traditional Moroccan couscous: roasted chicken, lamb stew and merguez, with chick pea ragout and harissa jus. Dessert is a toss-up: You could go light(ish) with a cheese plate (with dried chutney, toasted nuts) or seasonal with the peach-nectarine crisp and yogurt sorbet. (See the full menu here.)
Tip: Save enough on your meal to splurge on a martini at the Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel (almost) next door.
During Restaurant Week, lunch at participating establishments is $24.07, dinner $35.00. Reserve early.
