The new Carroll Gardens mega eatery, bar and beer hall from the owners of Frankie Sputino 457, Prime Meats, has opened its bar. The restaurant, perhaps the most anxiously awaited culinary attraction to be opened by bearded Brooklyn dudes (and this is a startlingly crowded category) so far this year has been in previews of a sort. If you count libations. (We do.)
Co-owner Frank Castronovo tells Time Out, “The bar has been open Thursdays to Saturdays to accommodate overflow from Frankies, but this particular week, because we received our health certificate, we decided to open the front door.” There's isn't even beer and wine offered yet, but fancy cocktails such as a couple of absinthe and bitter concoctions are in full effect. The dining room is expected to open sometime this week, but who needs food when you can make a meal out of an Old Fashioned with Bartlett pear bitters?
