Monday Opening Report: Santorini Grill, Simply Fondue Certified Open, Il Bordello on Weds.

1) Chelsea: NYMag reports that the cursed restaurant space on the corner of 23rd Street and 10th Avenue is getting a new tenant: plywood vet Il Bordello, on Wednesday the 12th. They write: “Can the corner of Tenth Avenue and West 23rd Street stop killing restaurants? Jasmin Zafaranloo hopes so. She’s opening Il Bordello there on November 12. 'We’ve heard it’s a cursed corner,' she says. There’s a roomy, 70-seat interior built around a handsome bar, but since 1998, Le Solex, Jerry’s Bar & Grill, and the Flamingo Room have each come and gone.” Status: Not Open. 2) Glendale: A tipster has word that Queens' only fondue restaurant, and plywood alum, Simply Fondue soft-opened on Halloween and officially opened last week in the Shops at Atlas Park. From the website: "Simply Fondue's four course meal starts with one of four refreshing and unique salads, followed by your choice of one of five types of creamy cheese fondues to dip Constantine's fresh breads, crisp vegetables and luscious Granny Smith apples." 3) Williamsburg: Gowanus Lounge has it that a new Greek restaurant called Santorini Grill has opened on Grand Street in Williamsburg. Details are scarce but they describe the offerings as “Greek food with a fascinating looking menu.” Status: Certified Open. Grand Street near Bedford Ave; no phone.
