After slumming it with the decidedly low-brow and objectively delicious Fried Chicken Dinner, David Chang has added a little four star touch to his Momo Noodle Bar. Above, we present a screen shot of the late night menu at said Momofuku Noodle Bar for January 8, 2009, served from midnight until 2 AM. There is a minor alteration there, something slightly different from the Fri and Sat late night menu on the Momofuku website (hint: the big red arrow).
The addition of full caviar service is in a sense, Chang being Chang, throwing his fans a little curve ball. The fact that it premiered on the late night menu makes it that much cooler to his base. But considering that a) Noodle has been upping the ante in all kinds of ways in the last six months—slowly putting more emphasis on the prix fixe and composed dishes and less on the noodles—and b) this restaurant is still missing a full review from the New York Times, perhaps he's sending a subtle note to Sifton that this is a serious damn restaurant, and it deserves some twinklers too.
